INOCEL is completing the development of its INOCEL Z300-S next-generation fuel cell system that exceeds the announced performance targets

INOCEL is completing the development of its INOCEL Z300-S next-generation fuel cell system that exceeds the announced performance targets.

Energy generation technology meeting the decarbonization challenges of INOCEL customers
 In the face of increasing global energy needs and the urgency of the energy transition, INOCEL is taking up the challenge of providing reliable, high-performance technology that meets the challenges of reducing its customers’ carbon footprint. The transition from fossil fuels to renewables requires power generation systems that can operate in a variety of environments, deliver high power, and ensure optimal efficiency. The INOCEL products represent a turning point for stationary energy generation, offering a sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional fossil fuels.

Saint-Egrève, France – November 28, 2024, INOCEL, an innovative player in the energy sector, is proud to announce the completion of the development of its INOCEL Z300-S fuel cell to meet growing clean energy needs in a context of global warming.

A disruptive technology to decarbonize target uses
Designed to meet the current and future needs of companies seeking to reduce their environmental impact, this fuel cell system addresses a variety of use cases, such as:

  • Mobile generators, needed for sites not connected to the electricity grid or requiring additional power, to replace diesel generators and batteries;
  • Emergency power generation for critical industrial and tertiary infrastructure such as data centers, hospitals, operating buildings and banks;
  • Electrification of docks (cold ironing) to limit greenhouse gas emissions in ports, particularly for ships;
  • Storage of intermittent renewable energies in the form of hydrogen and then their reuse at the customer’s request;
  • Power system load shedding and balancing.

 “We are delighted to announce the finalization of the development and the imminent launch of the production of this cutting-edge technology that embodies our commitment to a sustainable energy transition,” says Jules BILLIET CEO of INOCEL. “The fuel cell will meet the growing needs for clean energy and support various sectors such as stationary power generation with INOCEL Z300-S now, maritime with INOCEL Z300-M in 2025, and then onshore heavy mobility in the longer term with INOCEL Z300-G.”

 Performance that delivers real change
The performance of the INOCEL Z300-S fuel cell meets the target applications with:

  • A unit power of 300 kW allowing real scaling;
  • A modular and “plug and play” design, allowing an unlimited increase in power;
  • More than 60% efficiency, exceeding expectations, offering a cost of use that is competitive with diesel;
  • Ability to operate anywhere, anytime;
  • Unparalleled reactivity with a full power rise of the system in less than 2 seconds drastically reducing the need for hybridization batteries.

 Launch Schedule and Availability
The first units of the INOCEL Z300-S fuel cell system will be available to key strategic customers and partners as of December 2024. Expanded commercial distribution is planned for mid-2025, enabling companies to engage effectively in the transition to renewable energy.

Boating: successfully completes the world’s first hydrogen refueling on a lake

Milan, September 9, 2024 – NatPower H, the pioneering developer of cutting-edge green hydrogen infrastructure for there creational boating sector and part of the NatPower Group, announces its collaboration with GEKO- INOCEL and Tullio Abbate to advance the transition towards a more sustainable, low-environmental impact boating industry, while delivering high-speed performance.
NatPower H has entered a strategic partnership with GEKO, a specialist in the design, integration, manufacturing, and marketing of high-performance electric propulsion systems for boats. The collaboration also includes INOCEL, a leader in the development and production of high-power modular fuel cells for fuel cell generators and powertrain systems in  heavy-duty vehicles. In addition, the historic Italian brand Tullio Abbate, renowned for its legacy in motor boat racing and offshore excellence since 1969, joins the initiative. Together, they are spearheading a revolution in sustainable recreational boating, with the world’s first hydrogen refueling of the Tullio Abbate Elite 27 H Poseidon on Lake Como—marking a pivotal moment in the transition towards eco-friendly marine propulsion.
The operation, which took place in Cernobbio with the support of the municipality, local police, and Mayor Matteo Monti, and facilitated by the technical expertise of Linde Gas, marks the world’s first hydrogen refueling on a lake. The vessel involved, the Poseidon, is a prime example of how hydrogen fuel cell technology can be seamlessly integrated into the maritime sector without compromising on performance. This cutting-edge boat, designed with Tullio Abbate’s renowned nautical expertise, is powered by an advanced propulsion system developed by GEKO and driven by an INOCEL fuel cell.
“This partnership is a crucial step forward in our journey towards more sustainable boating. It underscores how innovation and collaboration between industry leaders can drive meaning ful progress in the marine industry,” said Andrea Minerdo, CEO of NatPower H. “By working together, we are not only committed to reducing the environmental impact but also to raising the bar for sustainability standards across the sector. At the same time, we are determined to maintain the high-performance levels that the industry and our customers expect.”
“We are very pleased to share this achievement with INOCEL, NatPower H, and Tullio Abbate,” said Pierre Lion, CEO of GEKO. “The first hydrogen refueling of a boat on Lake Como is yet another strong demonstration of the hydrogen ecosystem’s feasibility—an ecosystem that is already up and running.”
“Tullio Abbate has always been a pioneer in innovation, which is why so many engine manufacturers choose to collaborate with us,” added Tullio Abbate. “I was excited by INOCEL’s request to build a boat that is both eco-friendly and capable of delivering bold performance.”
